Sunset by Lois

Please notice the pole. Hurricanes have hit Cedar Key at various times down through the years. The maximum sea level thus far has been 12 feet. Thus new homes in Cedar Key must be built on stilts so that the water can rush underneath the structure without washing it away.

It's hard to imagine when you look at that peaceful scene that the water level can get so high!

Beautiful sunset and great composition. However, the pole is a bit scary! :-)

I agree with JM, gorgeous shot. Somehow I'd be afraid of living on stilts when there's a hurricane...

Of course, I'm a sunset fan - so kudos to Lois for a great shot. The marker is a good reminder of the power of 'Mother Nature!'
