Gull & Pelican Parking Lot

For some reason, a great quantity of seagulls and pelicans and other birds were making this pier wreckage their home. Some flew off, but others flew in. The pilings were jammed.

Photo is by Lois Anne.

I guess they needed a place to rest where they wouldn't be bothered by humans! ;)

Your comment on my Subic Bay photo got me intrigued and I hope you don't think I'm prying, but were you in the Armed Forces? Did you get assigned to Subic?

It is their own little island where they are relatively protected from predators. A guess there is a similar reason to why my cat sits atop the refrigerator door.

Must be a flight convention here. Everyone is flying in.

Those pilings resemble the skeleton of some ancient mythical beast and the seagulls are its many heads.

@ Brattcat - that's certainly a different interpretation of the photo...I hadn't thought of it, but now...hmm...

@ Hilda...I was in the U.S. Navy, but after WWII. The Pacific Theater has always been of great interest to me, and I've read a great deal about it...

And I've found fascinating (and terrible) the war as it took place in the Philippines.

Down through the years, I've collected a number of photos of the Navy during WWII.

Thanks for answering my nosy questions, Jacob! :)

Hope you can visit the Philippines soon. Subic Bay and Clark Field are now very different, but I think you'll enjoy a visit to Corregidor Island which is about an hour and a half away from Manila by ferry.
