New vs old. I love that old building. Great shot Jacob.

Looks pretty cool, but are they safe in a hurricane? They must be if they're still standing! I'm just a scaredy cat

I like the old one on stilts! But it looks like it needs some fixing up first.

I love the roofs, the many, many roofs. They almost look like birds.

@ Tricia - Nothing is safe in a hurricane - especially when they get above Category 1. But, frequently, the most damage comes from storm surge, which can be quite high. So, in Cedar Key as in most parts of Florida, buildings constructed on the shore must be built on stilts of a certain height to allow the storm surge to go under and through the structure.

I prefer the old beach house, but I suppose the new condos will do.

Which are the condos and which is the marina? I love the older one, but as Hilda noticed, it might need some fixing... :)

@ Mirela - These are all condos. I'm shooting over the marina...you can see the masts in the shot...

Actually, the older ones are in fairly decent shape...they do need a bit of paint, though.

I actually like both....but a bit more attracted to the older.

The older and smaller structure is a private residence, and is not rented out. Yes, it could use a fresh coat of paint, but being able to pay the property taxes takes priority over that ! God Bless this one weary soul for hanging in there and keeping his home even though there are nothing but Condos built all around him !

@ Idwils - I will have to assume you are aware of the situation...but back in June I talked with a man from the Tampa area who said he was there with his son and friends celebrating the son's high school graduation and I would swear he walked into that particular building.

Thanks for commenting!

The "older" condo has been for sale by the bank for some time. If anyone would like to buy it it is coming up for auction ... again. It has been auctioned 3 times already and the highest it got was around $80,000 and the bank refused that bid. The property had been for sale by an agent for $120,000 and no takers.

BTW, The condo fees for this unit are $76 a month and gives you access to the pool and other amenities. ;-) You have to maintain the condo, inside and out.

Try the auction

or try the bank

We bought our project in 2009. The plans are almost ready and we will build our home (not a rental) on the piers at 3rd St. and Collins Road.
