@ Ciel - That's why I'm doing more and more in 35mm. Most of what I shoot will be digital, but film does give one certain advantages - even scanned at low resolution it has the equivalence of way more megapixels than the best digital cameras out.
The key is a good processor and a good scanner -- and you don't scan photos, you scan the film.
I'll be using it mostly for landscapes and "arty" shots.
The thing is you can find some wonderful cameras very reasonably. I bought a Nikon F80/N80 on eBay in beautiful condition with a battery pack for about $75.
@ Ciel - P.S. Also, you need good film. For landscapes I'm using Fuji Velvia 50 (slow, so I've got to use a tripod in low light) but oh, so vivid. I'm also using some Fuji Reala 100.
Beautiful shot, Jacob. I have been scanning and organizings photos on and off for the last couple of years. I never scanned the film...are you talking about the negative?
@ Bfarr - Yes. Although this was scanned from a photo, you're always better off scanning the negatives for they contain all the information and will give you a much better final result!
The higher the resolution of your scanner the better!

Ohhhhhhhh. Stunning!
Glorious!
Your photo is amazingly well preserved. I'm glad you were able to scan it. Hope you're scanning your other photos too.
A great big part of me regrets 35 mm.
This isn't liquid gold, it's liquid orange. It's a marvellous shot, just look at that surface!

Wow! It is so great! Wonderful colors! So warm photo!
WOW! STUNNING!!!
This is awesome, Jacob. But why would you want even more pixels? They won't be of any use on the web so I guess someone is in for new wallpapers... ;)
beautiful. One of your best
Merci for all the information!
