As I recall, this was part of an art project - an old phone, in two pieces, set in a wood crevice in an old building on Main Street. I'm not sure what the point was, but would guess it had something to do with communication - that maybe we should get off the phone and have more one-on-one conversations; that we should not let technology run our lives.
My friend, Danielle, visited Cedar Key recently and took a photo of this "project" also. Please check it out on her blog, Unconventional Photography. Her title is much more apt.

Yes, technology definitely gets in the way, this is for sure. One thing about computers that I am grateful for, though, is that I am able to see people and places that I couldn't otherwise afford to...I am grateful for my fellow bloggers like yourself, Lowell, thanks so much for sharing.
Although interesting, I think of other phones that are much older...those older wood phones attached to walls with a handle one brings to an ear.

Actually, the current mobile phone addiction is something I find really weird! Too many people seem not to be able to stop using it 24/7.
On the radio this morning on my drive to work, the DJ admitted texting his daughter in the next room to put the dogs out!!! And people sitting at the same ble in a restaurant on the phone or texting. One of my pet peeves for sure.
I love this....of course I love everything about Cedar Key...it is so my favorite place right up there with Charleston.
