I'm so sad to hear of Cedar Key's not-so-positive changes. We were there a little over 2 years ago and things were looking pretty good, with the opening of a couple of new restaurants and The Black Dog. But it's so tough for businesses to make it there.
I will be very sad to see the Honeymoon Cottage ("old shack") fall one day, but I did see that it made it through the bad storms last month.
Wish I knew of an affordable monthly rental for your friend, but they seem to be few and far between. We found the people at Key Realty and Pelican Realty very helpful in the past when we have rented through them, so your friend might consider contacting those companies for availability. He/she might also consider posting an "winter rental wanted" ad in one of the local papers. Good luck to your friend. I would love to winter in Cedar Key!
Lovely photo, Lowell! I love the title you gave it as well. :) It reminds me of something that happened in my area many years ago. There was a family of ravens and they kept on making the sounds they make...and often. One day an elderly lady was walking by on the street where these ravens were and asked me, "What is that?" I responded and said to her, "It looks like a raven convention to me." We both laughed. :)

Who adds all the other discordant sounds?
Fantastic shot!

I can't resist a good bird pic, even if it is seagulls! I like it when they sleep standing on one leg.
J'adore !!!
Belle journée Lowell...
