Just a couple of Cedar Key seagulls

One thing I have to say about Cedar Key seagulls - they like to pose for the camera!

They look so different from the gulls we get around Astoria.

I'll be happy to send you some Oregon rain! We don't really mind it, but with 70 to 100 inches per year, I think we can spare some - especially for those fires! I love the black gull. I began to notice how different some of our gulls are from others, and I'll be comparing them more in my pictures. We may have some version of the black one down the coast. I wonder how much they hybridize with other sea birds, if at all, or if they're all variations of seagull. I'd never thought much about it until this year. The small Natural History museum in Santa Barbara, CA, has a gull exhibit, but all I remember learning from it was that the juveniles are brown.

They like you!! ;-)

They like to pose for YOUR camera because you capture them with such dignity. Most people bring an attitude to their depiction of sea gulls that is somewhat dismissive. You allow them to be beautiful.

They are indeed very beautiful and you have captured that in each photograph, Jacob. I love the clarity and detail in the feet.
