Fighting for scraps

This is not one of my better images, but I thought it interesting. Evidently, there were fish scraps in the bottom of the boat, or something, which led to a confrontation between the pelican and a couple of turkey vultures.

You'll notice the second vulture on top of the boat watching the ongoing battle. We left shortly thereafter, so I don't know who won.

A scenery from real life, Jacob.
I think that is the best way to dispose of waste. And.. who dares wins!

Before I saw how big pelicans can get, I would have voted the vulture won, but now I'm not so sure.

That is a tough shot to get, but it shows a little bit of the dog eat dog, or in this case bird eat bird world.

I've always had difficulty shooting pictures of birds.

Red headed vultures! I only have one shot of one of this guys I took on the coast of Chile.

@ JM - Most of these turkey vultures (which are wonderful birds in that they clean up a lot of garbage!) are redheads. There are some, though, with black heads.

In Australia we have pelicans but neither red nor black headed turkey vultures! I enjoy seeing scenes like this IRL.

Must have been violent and really, really noisy!

@ Hilda - not too bad; a lot of flapping of wings.
