Cedar Key, with its relatively calm waters and numerous inlets and bays, offers a great opportunity for kayakers. You can rent them when you arrive or you can bring your own, like these folks.

Lois Anne took this photo of a reflective sunset...the sun was actually setting behind her. In the distance you can see the Seabreeze restaurant on the left side of the dock area.

The Seabreeze Cupola

I really didn't know what to call this. Cupola seems to fit. I've never seen anyone up there, though.

The Seabreeze is an old-timey restaurant on the Dock...we've been going there for at least 20 years. The food is decent and the view can't be beat.

The Rusty Rim & Coconuts

You've seen this place in a number of shots previously, but not from this angle. For years, The Rusty Rim was known as The Captain's Table, and we celebrated anniversaries and birthdays there...

Time changes everything, it is said, and so The Captain's Table is no more. In its place is The Rusty Rim (upstairs) and Coconuts (downstairs). We've not patronized either as yet, but will before long and we'll let you know as to ambiance and food quality.

You will find people of all ages enjoying the new pier at Cedar Key. I'm not sure they catch many fish, but they seem to like trying.

It should be obvious to all upon looking at this beautiful sculpture that great works of art are not to be found only in Europe and New York City! Just consider the beautiful lines of this work. And it's in Florida! In Cedar Key! On the dock!

Please refer to photo of yacht posted yesterday, Friday July 17. These two folks appear to be the owners of the yacht and had come ashore, perhaps to have dinner and walk around the island. Here they are getting into their small boat to head back out to their boat.


They're on their way!


Almost there...but they didn't go directly to their yacht. The rode around a sailboat anchored nearby, looked it over, and then went to their yacht and hoisted their small dinghy.

As noted, the next morning they were gone.

The yacht is actually quite a ways out in the water. The long lens compresses the distance.

We observed the owners of this yacht in town, strolling along, enjoying a beautiful summer evening...then they got in their little dinghy (which you can see in the photo) and went back to their yacht. They were gone in the morning.

The Sawgrass Motel

The Sawgrass Motel, located on the dock in Cedar Key, just across from the new pier, is a rather funky-looking place, but would certainly put you in the center of the action!

We haven't been inside for awhile, but there's a gallery on the first floor for those of you who would like to shop for Florida-type stuff and Cedar Key specific items.

You can take a tour of Cedar Key by calling the number on that sign. The "rickshaw," I believe is horse-powered, and would actually be a good way to get an overview of the entire island.
